Oxley Creek Common, Rocklea – Directions

Oxley Creek Common is an environmental parkland area located on Sherwood Road, Rocklea, about 500m west of the Rocklea fruit and Vegetable markets.   Google Maps link: https://goo.gl/maps/MQW7a4Vgk257Bdkp8

The Common has a good facilities building with BBQ, water, toilets, 240v power. There is also plenty of room to setup telescopes. The format of these nights will be casual. We may run a short Powerpoint talk on some nights. But the focus will be on helping BAS members to progress their interest in astronomy and learn how to use telescopes and other astronomy and astrophotography equipment. The formats of these casual evening will evolve over time as BAS members bring new topics and issues forward for wider involvement.

Most people initially head for Landsborough and then head up the Landsborough Maleny Road to Maleny itself.  Once in Maleny, drive straight through the first roundabout and then take the first right, Teak Street, to head towards North Maleny and the golf club.

The club site has toilets and a clubhouse that are available to BAS members and event attendees.

If driving from Brisbane, head for Rosewood. Then take the Rosewood Laidley Rd west for 7.6km. Just after the first right-hand curve in the road look for two small bus stop shelters. Immediately after turn left into Calvert Station Road, cross the rail line and creek and immediately turn left into Bourke Rd, West. Proceed 260m to a gate entrance on the right with two white flag poles. Drive down the lane at no more than 20kph and you have arrived.
