Each month near the New Moon date we head out of the city for some casual telescope observing and astrophotography under less light polluted skies.

Interested in astronomy or joining BAS? Join our members for a fun and informative meeting.

Astrocamps take place at a rural venue where members and their guests can use their telescopes and do some deep-sky observing and astrophotography. They are usually a multi-night events conducted on a Friday and Saturday night near the New Moon date.

At present due to site availability, cost and light pollution issues BAS is not conducting monthly astrocamps.  However this decision is under constant review as new sites are investigated. We hope to have good news later this year.

Monthly free telescope viewing at Mt. Coot-Tha Lookout

Have your first taste of astronomy by looking through one of our telescopes to view the night sky at our Public Viewing Nights.

Come up to Mt Coot-tha Lookout for telescope viewing one Saturday evening each month. Our club members will show you the spectacular mountain ranges and craters on the Moon, star clusters, planets and other objects. Afterwards, enjoy the wonderful view of Brisbane and relax with light refreshments at the Kuta Café.

There is no charge or cost to take a look through our telescopes.  However, if you would care to make a small donation to help support the operation of our school outreach program your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
